Clinical Efficacy of Enoxacin in Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media


Abstract
The efficacy of Enoxacin was evaluated in 30 patients of chronic suppurative otitis media and the following results were obtained.
1. Enoxacin showed excellent or good effectiveness in 20 patients. The efficacy rate was 66.7%.
2. Two patients reported mild side effects, none of which necessitated stopping treatment.
3. 25 strains of pathologic organism were isolated from discharge of the middle ear. The predomi:lant
isolates were Staphylococcus (10 strains), Pseudomonas (5 strains), and Proteus (4 strains). All of the
isolates were sensitive to Enoxacin.
The results indicate that Enoxacin is an effective and safe antimicrobial drug for patients of chronic suppurative otitis media.
